Scottish Rite
The local Scottish Rite organization, called a “Valley,” confers the 4th through 32nd degrees in degree-conferring meetings. The Scottish Rite, also known as the “College of Freemasonry,” uses extensive allegory and drama to emphasize the message of its degrees. One can complete the degree work at one time.
We share the belief of all Masonic organizations that the highest degree is that of Master Mason. The degrees add to those of Blue or Craft Lodge Masonry. Our degrees amplify and elaborate on the lessons of the craft, providing further knowledge of Masonry, the building of the Temple, and ancient religions, with memorable lessons ranging from the days of chivalry to modern times.
The Scottish Rite, an appendant body of the Masonic Fraternity, chartered in Bangor in 1865. It confers the 4th through the 32nd degree upon a Master Mason desirous of continuing his Masonic education. A 32nd Degree Freemason believes in personal honor, principles, morals, ethical behavior, and setting a good example.
We believe character matters. The Valley of Bangor hosts numerous events for members and their guests. It has an extensive charitable outreach, including sponsoring a learning center for dyslexic children.
The Scottish Rite Club in Presque Isle is now the Valley of Aroostook. It is the home of Polaris Lodge of Perfection. Brother Milt Smith is the Secretary and may be reached at 207-768-3961. For more information, visit their website.
